Special Delivery

Below is a short account of a recent mission trip taken in central Asia. This will give you a real life look at what is happening to our brothers and sisters in China. For security reasons, the writer will remain anonymous.

Special Delivery

There was something awesome in the air that night as we gathered around that stack of boxes. Not just any boxes. They were boxes full of bread—the Living Bread. We laid our hands on them and cried out to our Father for the recipients of the Books, that even now He would gently plow the soil of their hearts and soften it in preparation for the seed. Earnestly we asked that He would multiply His Word among His people. And we pled for safety and protection as we, His children, carried these precious Books into China.

And then came the packing. We stacked our special cargo into our big frame packs, carefully padding around the edges. With a heave we lifted the packs on the scales to be weighed to avoid problems at check-in. Still under 22 kilograms? A few more Books found their way in. We worked together to make sure our packs were properly adjusted on our backs to make the next day a little easier.

The next day we boarded the plane, hearts beating a little faster than usual. Our flight of a few hours gave us time to calm our hearts before our Father and plead once again for wisdom and safety for our loads.
Off the plane…down the jet way. Father, protect Your Word! We spread out. Customs line…and then a stamp in our passports. Casually we make our way to baggage claim to retrieve our heavy packs. Where next?

Our leaders guide us towards the scanners, which, to our surprise and delight, are not running. We join the throng of people walking past the machines and get the other side. Almost before we realize it, we are through! We walk on outside and wait for the rest of our group. We wait…and praise our Father for His protection, both in words and in exhilarated thoughts.

By that evening, our Bread was out of our hands and safely on the way to our unknown brothers and sisters. What a beautiful privilege we had to deliver the words of our Creator and Redeemer to our extended family! Our prayer was and continues to be that the seeds planted will grow a hundredfold as they spread the greatest news among their own people. May our Father receive all the glory!

  1. Reagan,
Yes! I am checking in. This is of course a very encouraging post! What a great way to get the Good News to those who have not heard it, and Bibles to our dear brothers and sisters.

I hope all of you are well. You are very quiet and/or very busy! Hope to see you all soon.
    Your brother+
