Unreached People Groups

In the world today, there are approximately 16,000 people groups. Of these, 6,000 are considered unreached. They have no Christians among them, no church, and no Bible. They have never heard the name Jesus. They are completely without hope. Most of these people are located in Asia, which contains millions of Hindus, Buddhists and Muslims. Even if they wanted to hear they couldn’t. In India alone, there are 500,000 villages that are still waiting to hear the Gospel for the first time.

Of the 100,000 missionaries in the world today, only 3% are working among the unreached. Amazingly, less than 1% of mission funds are being used to tell these people of Jesus. And we have the only answer to save them in our hearts and minds. We must, at any cost, reach these people groups while there is still time.

The apostle Paul, in his famous letter to the Romans, said his goal in missions was to “make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else's foundation, but as it is written, ‘Those who have never been told of him will see, and those who have never heard will understand.’” His driving passion was to see that every person have a chance to hear the Gospel. Tragically, 2,000 years later, over 2 billion are still unreached, with no missionaries working among them.

We can change that. By working with the native churches in these countries and providing them with the tools to reach these lost souls, we can see the whole world hear the Gospel. This is God’s command to the church: to preach the Gospel to every nation, language and tribe.

To make this more real for our readers, we will periodically post people group profiles that are completely unreached in countries such as China, Thailand, and India. We must see these nations brought to Jesus before it is too late. As Carl F. H. Henry said, “The Gospel is only good news if it gets there on time.”

This is an incredible responsibility and privilege God has given us. Our lives are a vapor; please use it for something that really matters.

In conclusion, let me give you a quote by William Wilberforce, who said, “Having seen all this you can choose to look the other way, but you can never say again ‘I did not know.’”
