China: Land of Many Peoples

China is an almost unimaginably large country. With over 1.3 billion people within its borders, China ranks highest on the population scale in the world. The land area is one of the largest on the planet, covering 9.57 million square km.

In a country so populated, the diversity of its peoples can be amazing. Within just China alone, there are a total of nearly five hundred separate and distinct people groups.Sadly, many of these people groups have never heard the Gospel of Christ.

The Kazak people group is a good example of this. Located in the Qinghai Province, which is in central China, the Kazak group has a population of nearly four thousand. Not one person in this entire people group has heard the Gospel. Not one.

This is not an isolated case. In fact, among many of the Chinese people groups, it is not uncommon to find entire peoples where over ninety percent have never even heard the name Jesus.  For China as a whole, Christians make up less than eight percent of the population.

This is why the GOA fundraiser has been so focused on China and the surrounding nations. How will these people believe the Gospel and follow Christ if we don’t start by giving them God’s Word first? Since we officially began nearly two years ago, we have been able to put God’s Word into the hands of thousands of Chinese people who have never owned a Bible. In fact, many are in situations like the Kazak people, living in isolation and without access to the Gospel and the Scriptures.

Please continue to pray for the Chinese people groups, and particularly for the work that is being done to help bring the Good News to them, often for the very first time. If you feel God is leading you, consider giving to help support this work. Many millions of Chinese are still waiting for the Word of God. Be a part of bringing it to them for the first time.
